Trisha’s ‘mom’ turns director

If you are a regular to Tamil films, you could have sure noticed Lakshmi, who mostly plays a modern-day mom to our heroes and heroines. She was there in ‘Poi Solla Porom’ and she donned the role of Trisha’s mother in ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’.

And now, the actress is getting ready to become a director and is busy making a trailer for her first full-length feature film. For she has already directed seven short films, with two of them have even won awards besides being screened at international festivals.

“The movie is based on a real life incident,” she says and adds: “It’s about bomb blasts and revolves around three youngsters who become victims of the brutal act. How the incident changes their lives is the crux of the story.”

Saying she can’t reveal the cast now, Lakshmi however adds she has roped in TV actor Shiva Karthikeyan and two others for the trailer. “Though I and my producer are confident about the project, I am aware that I have a huge responsibility to translate the script on the big screen in a right way.”
